This morning, colonel Chekroun awaits us at the quay. Before setting off, Hervé Blanchet shows him the first results of the magnetometer survey. A plan of the of the magnetic field and another in three dimensions is of particular interest and illustrates the anomalies obtained and the points for diving.
In the mean time, Jean-Marie Gassend, quickly sketches a view of the port and city.
This first day of summer is splendid, and if in town the heat is already unbearable, at sea a light wind of the North-East makes the day ideal.

The day is dedicated, like yesterday, to searching an area in 1.6 meters of water to the south-west of Cape Matifou. A Maltese document locates the shipwreck of a nave in this area that is link to the aborted attack by Charles V.
The buoys are in place and the Surveillant already moored close to the working area, we save valuable time.

Underwater exploration
Underwater exploration

Joe Guesnon, our chief dive officer, organizes the groups of divers.
Each group will have to carry out a dive starting from the deep end of the area while following a well defined direction. A compass will make it possible to keep on course. The rocky seabed is particularly rich: the fauna and abundant flora make the search more interesting but also more difficult.

The third group of divers will film underwater.
Anne Joyard controls the lighting while Noé Sardet handles the underwater camera. The exercise proves to be difficult but the duo gels is left rather well and films the exploration of the zone.
Towards 4 p.m. 30 the Surveillant steers its course towards Algiers leaving behind him a splendid wake while passing through the anchorage where cargo liners await their turn to dock.
