During this time Herve Strainer and Adlane Ferchouli also managed to solve the problems of releasing the survey equipment from customs. For the equipment sent by sea, the problem persists and we will have to wait Monday to regularise the situation with the French forwarding agents.
At 09:00 two vehicles from the archaeology department picked us up from Bouzarea, where we are living. Some of the team will solve the remaining administrative problems whereas the others will go to the citadel to check some material which is stored there.
Under the watchful eye of the guard and an archaeologist we check the cable of the magnetometer then install the snap hooks which make it possible to connect it with the towing rope of the plunging wing.

We then check, a little anxiously, the operation of the side sonar. This because in transit its case had fallen and we had to totally dismount the central processing unit to put everything back in place. Luckily, all turned well.

The place where we are lodged is beside the ruins of the Dey’s palace, which is currently being restored. The citadel dominates the Kasbah and offers a splendid view on the port of Algiers. On the left one sees the naval port built with the site of the historical arsenal which is dominated by the lighthouse. In the east beyond the dams the zone is where we will work.
