- The hypothesis of a small hamlet -

New building release, within he background, the kitchen.

The weak wind turned and the trade wind of the South East made place to a West wind of about ten knots.

Work began again with the objective of releasing the walls to find the overall geometry of the constructions of the site. Indeed, started from an element of a wall in 2006 with the idea of a precarious shelter, we found initially a solid building with walls of which the thickness goes up to 1, 5 m, now the unit starts to make us think of a hamlet whose buildings are overlapped one in another.
At the end of the afternoon we completely released the top of the walls of a new building measuring 2, 6 m by 3 m with an entrance in corner.

We shouldn’t from now advance too quickly because we risk not being able to study everything. The idea is to delimit the different buildings while following the walls, so as to have the best overall idea possible and to undertake surveys.
The study of the kitchen continues with scouring and sifting, layer by layer, of the sediment which is inside. Sifting delivers a multitude of bird bones, turtle bones and some fish bones.

A survey carried out outside the wall, of the east coast, reached the archaeological layer only after having released nearly 50 cm of beach sand, undoubtedly blown by the trade wind, because the place is in the wind of the building.

At the same time, we carry out with a theodolite the topography of the whole site and the establishment of a plan. The speed of the progression of the discoveries even obliged us to increase the size of our drawing board. At this stage of the excavation, few objects are discovered.

Tomorrow a tide of full moon will take place and we shall go see the site of the wreck whose vestiges located close to the beach will be partly discovered.
